How Taming the Data handles information, cookies, and advertising.

Last updated: October 27, 2026

This policy describes how Taming the Data ("the site"), maintained by Edijs Bergholcs ("we"), handles information when you visit the site. The data controller is Edijs Bergholcs. Contact:[add a monitored contact email address].

Information we handle

When you request a page, the site or its hosting provider may process technical information such as your IP address, browser and device details, requested URL, referring page, and the date and time of the request. This information may be recorded in server logs for delivery, security, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention. The hosting provider's own retention practices also apply.

The site currently has no account registration, comments, or contact form. If you contact the owner by email, your message and reply address will be used to respond and maintain any necessary record of the correspondence.

Cookies and local storage

The site stores your theme choice (light or dark) in your browser's local storage so it can be remembered on later visits. This preference stays in your browser and can be removed using your browser's site-data controls. The site does not currently use its own analytics cookies.

Advertising and third parties

No third-party advertising or analytics service is currently configured on the site. Before enabling Google AdSense, this policy and the site's consent setup must be updated to reflect the actual service and data practices. If Google AdSense or another advertising service is enabled, that provider and its partners may use cookies or similar technologies to store or access information on your device, measure ads, limit repeated ads, detect fraud, and, where permitted and selected, personalize advertising. Third-party providers process information under their own privacy policies. Google explains its data practices at How Google uses information from sites or apps that use its services and provides Google's Privacy Policy.

Where required, valid consent must be obtained before storing or accessing non-essential information or using it for personalized advertising. Google requires publishers serving ads in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland to use a Google-certified consent management platform. Visitors can also manage some advertising preferences through Google's ad settings and their browser controls. Blocking cookies may affect ad features. This policy must be updated if advertising or analytics services are added or changed.

Purposes and legal bases

Depending on the circumstances and applicable law, information is processed to:

Sharing and international transfers

Information may be processed by the hosting provider and, if enabled, advertising or technical service providers that help operate the site. These providers may process information in countries outside your own. Where data protection law requires safeguards for an international transfer, the relevant parties must use an appropriate transfer mechanism.

Retention and security

Information is kept only as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described above, including applicable security, legal, or record-keeping needs. The site and its providers use reasonable measures to protect information, but no internet transmission or storage method can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your data protection rights

If the GDPR or similar law applies to you, you may have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal data; restriction of or objection to certain processing; and a portable copy of data you provided. Where processing is based on consent, you can withdraw it at any time, without affecting processing that took place before withdrawal. You may also complain to your local data protection authority. Rights and exceptions depend on the law that applies.

To make a request, use the contact details above. You may also have rights to object to direct marketing or to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority in your country of residence, work, or the place of an alleged infringement.

Children and policy changes

This site is intended for a general audience and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect children's personal data. This policy may be updated as the site changes; the date above shows when it was most recently revised.
